Food, service, and cleanliness were 5 stars! The quality and quantity were amazing! We had cheese steak, Italian, and a pastrami all three were delicious. Ate them before thinking about pictures, sorry!

I had the chopped salad and it was great the restaurant was clean and organized..I really enjoyed the people they were friendly as well and the service was on time

The O.G.B.L.T. is the way to go. It's a hot and melty sandwich with turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, pepper jack cheese and mayo, all on a hoagie bun. The sandwich is about as long as my humerus, and I ate the whole dang thing in one sitting. New York Gourmet Deli is not to be confused with NY Gourmet Deli, also in Indy. New York Gourmet Deli is located on East 21st Street on the near east side; NY Gourmet Deli is on Ruckle Street, near The Children's Museum. Are they owned by the same people? I don't know, but someone needs to change their name so I'm less confused. Anyway, New York Gourmet Deli, on the east side, is great and located in an unassuming parking lot full of potholes. It looks like a liquor store from the outside, but step inside and you'll see the large deli counter where you order sandwiches, burgers, fries and other foods. The joint is also a convenience store, of sorts, with a wall full of refrigerated beverages, aisles of chips, candy, and lots of Mexican snacks. There's also a little corner of the store with goods like laundry detergent and other necessities. The hustle here is unmatched. The fellows behind the counter were flying all over the kitchen to fulfill the orders. I visited around noon on a weekday, which seemed to be a busy time because there were lots of people from all walks of life here, either waiting to order or waiting for their orders. The guys behind the counter were unflappable and took orders and made sandwiches at a speedy pace. Even if there's a line, you won't wait long for your food.

Omg delicious!!! My best friend told me to try this place and I'm glad I did! I got the chopped cheese with (light cheese) since I'm lactose intolerant and not supposed to eat dairy but it was worth it!! Thin sliced green peppers on it, reminded me of a Philly steak. Staff was so nice, he thought I asked for no cheese and misunderstood I said "light" cheese and remade my sandwich quickly!!! Nice atmosphere and welcoming!! Lots of sodas and drinks to pick from too!

Stellar fresh ingredients and kind service. Easy to order, quick service, it reminded me of a NY bodega.

I finally got here! The place is clean, organized, and easy to navigate. The guys working were very polite and helpful. I appreciated them being patient with all my questions. I landed on ordering the Philly but customized it. No cold stuff, just onions, cherry and banana peppers and American cheese. I was pleased with my choice! I also ordered some deli meats to go. They had a good selection of Boars Head and some varieties that you done always see, like lemon pepper chicken. I will definitely be returning.

I am EXTREMELY EXCITED to review this Sandwich Delicatessen! I am VERY PICKY about my sandwich places and to say that this experience thrilled my tastebuds and sent my heart soaring with delight is an absolute understatement. Absolutely amazing! 5 out of 5 stars!

Ok hear me out. Don't judge a book by its cover. This place is a diamond in the rough. At first glance, it looks like a convenience store (they refer to it as a gourmet grocery store though), but behind the chips and candy is an amazing deli. The staff there is very friendly, the bread and meat are fresh and the sandwiches are mmmm mmmm good. There is a small parking lot available for you to park and as I mentioned, you can get chips, candy, vegetables and drinks here. I addition to signature sandwiches, they have burgers, fries, wraps and onion rings. You can get your food in a combo, which includes a canned drink and fries. To save you some time, you can also call your order ahead. I opted to get a Ragin Cajun sandwich combo. It took about 10 minutes for me to get my meal (the fries were made fresh). They do not a dining area or any place to sit and eat, so all their food orders are to-go. My meal was very delicious. At first I thought that my sandwich was a bit lacking in the meat department, but it only took one bite and I figured out that I was wrong. It was very flavorful and fresh. The fries were pretty good and well-seasoned too. I highly recommend checking out this diamond in the rough. They have some awesome food. Don't let the convenience store thing fool you. I highly recommend this joint and cannot wait to come back.
